“Be your own medicine. One pause. One breath. One medicine pouch at a time”
Hello my light being friend, I’d like to introduce you to my medicine pouch. A living breathing bundle of healing. A soothing prescription from mother nature. An antidote to busyness, feeling disconnected and technology exhaustion.
My latest medicine pouch (pictured above) is crafted with quartz crystal for claiming my light space. Rosemary for a fresh start. A new path. The next right step. Crow feather for cloak of protection and seeing below the surface. Orange flower for digesting emotions and supporting creativity.
All with compliments from nature’s many kingdoms – plant – animal – light – elemental – mineral.
We only need to pause. Inhale nature’s gentle language to bring her healing remedies and wise ways into our energy field.
My first medicine pouch was over 20 years ago. Traditional in appearance. Crafted by a North American Indian grandmother. I sat in circle, cocooned in a tee pee with sacred smoke wafting through the air. My small leather pouch, with long thin red frays, hung around my neck. Confidently holding sacred tobacco, a tiny feather and fresh soil. Subtly clearing and aligning my energy. At the time it was the most precious object I owned.
Today I have an open weave pouch made from twine (as you can see in the photo). I’m a visual and love looking at natures gifts. It stretches and expands holding snugly whatever chooses to jump in. I let nature’s healing remedies find me.
I generally have two or three items in my medicine pouch at one time. Anymore and my pouch tends to feel too busy or over stimulating.
I don’t wear my pouch everyday. Some days she rests on my altar. Other times she sleeps under my pillow. Either way a medicine pouch forms a pure energy cord connection between you and nature’s healing vibration.
Don’t have a medicine pouch?
Then use the palms of your hands as a medicine pouch.
Find a wild stone.
Simply holding a stone in your cupped palms activates an energy exchange. A healing response is triggered in your body. The breath relaxes. Exhale lengthens. You slow and are reminded of patience, the gentler path. Stone medicine fiercely aligns you to your inner stillness. You can read my post on stone medicine here.
~ Healing practice ~
Choose a medicine pouch or small bag that speaks to you.
Let the content of your medicine pouch find you. Do not hurry. Take your time. Don’t over think.
You might start with one crystal you feel drawn too first then in the morning – perhaps black tourmaline (one of my fav’s) and then throughout the day notice which elements of nature you are pulled towards a twig, pebble, leaf, feather, flower etc. Pop them into your medicine pouch.
When you get a sense that your pouch is complete, wear around your neck or hold in meditation or pop under your pillow at night.
Keep it close to you for as long as it feels alive and healing.
Rest on your altar in-between uses.
May the medicine in you rise. xox Carole
