I’m writing to you from Glastonbury, England.  I am writing to remind you. Never forget your body is medicine.

I am writing to remind you.  You can be your own medicine.  One pause, one breath and one healing ritual at a time.

I am writing to remind you. The journey of self healing begins with one small, helpful, do-able ritual.   A gentle ritual.  A kind ritual.  A ritual that has your back.

I am writing to remind you.  I share rituals weekly, to support you be your own medicine –  on instagram and here on my website.  They are rituals I’ve shared at my Slow Rest retreats and workshops and as a practitioner for decades.   

Protection rituals.  Releasing rituals. Relaxation rituals. Sacred space rituals.  Nurture the feminine rituals. Clearing rituals. Slow rest rituals. Ground rituals. Higher realms rituals.

I am writing to remind you today of the energetic potency of sound and breath combined. Enter the therapeutic humming breath ritual.

The residual sound current, from the humming breath, swiftly clears stuck, stagnant, blocked energy.  A humming breath is soothing for a worried mind.  A medicinal tonic for anxiety.  Your nervous system settles and resets to the toning current of the humming breath. 

The humming breath when practiced for one to two minutes, shifts your energy and clears away a layer of tension from your day. You can practice laying down, sitting or standing.  The humming breath ritual is shared below.  Enjoy my friend.

As a side note, I’m slowly getting myself organised with retreats for next year.

Oh, and the photo below was taken a few weeks ago at our French Equinox Slow Rest retreat.  We lunched on our verandah, overlooking the woodlands.  It was an usually hot Autumn day, hence the scarf on my head.  I should really write a post about French retreat and share more photo’s.

Well that’s it from me.  Enjoy playing with the humming breath ritual.  It may feel a little strange at first but the residual effects that you carry with you, out into the day, are so worth it.  Remember, change starts with one small healing ritual practiced daily.

Weekly ritual from the archives

~ The Humming Breath ~

Practice one:

Step one:

Start by placing one hand on the head and one hand on the belly.  This allows you to feel intimately the sound current of the hum vibrating inside your body. 

Step two:

With lips gently touching, inhale a relaxed breath through your nose. On the natural exhale (from the nose) hum. Think of a humming bee.

Move the sound current of the hum between both hands.

Practice two:

Eyes closed.

Move the sound current of your hum into those parts of you that are fragile, wounded or depleted.  You can place our hands there if that helps.

or

Move the sound current of your hum through the denseness of your whole bone body.

Move the sound current of your hum across the flesh of your skin.

Move the sound current of your hum into your worried mind.

Move the sound current of your hum into an anxious worried stomach.
