Modern science confirms what the ancients wisdoms believe: The way you breathe literally determines your life span.
This month I have decided to theme my monthly rejuvenation tips. Instead of picking 10 general rejuvenation tips I’m sharing 10 key breathing tips which I have posted over at twitter during the past 3 weeks.
Breathing Is A Fabulous Rejuvenation Tool:
It costs nothing and goes everywhere with you. Simply by placing your awareness onto your breath you are able to slow it down, deepen it, massage your organs, calm your thoughts, dissolve negative emotions whilst inviting relaxation into your body – all at the same time.
I’ve nearly completed an article on breathing which, so far has been 2 weeks in the making. I’m sure I’ll be happy with it by the end of the month so keep an eye out for it.
Ten Breathing Tips To Grab On The Run:
1. Invite serenity: Make a fist with your hands, wrap fingers over thumbs. The tighter you squeeze your thumbs the deeper & calmer your breath will be and the quieter your mind will become.
2. ” Smile, breathe and go slowly” by Thich Nhat Hanh
3. Breathing Wisdom: Don’t pull your stomach in when you inhale as it reduces your oxygen intake. Your abdomen should expand and soften with each inhale.
4. Still your mind for just one moment and experience the pause after each one of your exhales.
5. Is the way you are breathing making you sick or stealing your energy? Take a free breathing test now:http://www.breathing.com/
6. Breathing Wisdom: Spend a few moments observing the depth of your breath. Gently place hands on your belly. You should be able to feel it soften, rise and expand with each inhale.
7. Is your breathing nervous or relaxed, peaceful or anxious, deep or shallow, fast or slow? Take time throughout your day to slow down and deepen your breath.
8. Does your normal inhale only extend to the middle or upper area of your chest or is it shorter, stopping around your shoulders & throat area? Remember to breathe deeply into your belly.
9. Smile Into Your Heart: Smile, then feel the energy of your smile flow downward into your heart with each inhale. Is your heart smiling now?
10. Breathing Wisdom: Breathe into your liver to dissolve anger with each exhale. Breathe into your kidney to dissolve fear with each exhale.
Free your breath, free your life:
If you are keen to learn more about your breath I can personally recommend an awesome book called Free Your Breath, Free Your Life: By Dennis Lewis: Dr Christian Northrup MD says this is by far the most compelling and complete book on breathing I’ve ever read. It is “must” reading for everyone interested in optimal health. I’ve also read another book by Dennis Lewis called the Tao of Breathing. Both books are extremely detailed with lots of breathing exercises.
