Nine Ways To Strengthen Your Intuition:

by Carole Fogarty

“Each of us has a house with four rooms: mental, emotional, physical and spiritual: but unless we visit every room every day we are not complete” An Indian Proverb

Re-arrange your priorities and give daily attention to your inner world. Your intution is separate from your personality and ego.

It’s that special part of you that when given a voice brings clarity and guidance to your life.

I teach all my workshops and retreats intuitively – meaning I plan each class/workshop but when I’m teaching clear messages pop into my head like – more belly breathing is needed today, focus mainly on the head and shoulders today etc.

If I trust my intuitive voice I always and I mean always feel the class flowed well.  If I ignore these messages I’m always disappointed.  I know this from the feedback my students give me.

Over the years I’ve done many things to strengthen and develop my intuition. If you’re interested in tapping into your own intuitive wisdom more you might enjoy reading my short list below.

9 ways to strengthen your intuition:

1. Wake up slowly:

Your intuition has the brightest voice when there are minimal distractions. Take a moment to linger longer in bed before the busyness of the day begins.   Notice if your inner wise voice has a message for you. You just might  be surprised what is naturally floating about in your awareness just before the mind fills up with all sort of to-do and must-do lists.

2. Give your soul a written voice.

Journaling has proven to be the most consistent way I have strengthened my connection to my inner wise voice.  You cannot help learn more about yourself when you journal. There are no rules, right nor wrong way.  All you need is a pen, piece of paper and a willingness to let your hand do all the writing as your mind gets out of the way.

Journal writing can be whatever you want it to be.  Focus on an area of your life that needs more attention, find out what you really think or ask for divine guidance.  Julia Cameron the author of  The Artist’s Way recommends writing daily.  Three pages of writing first thing in the morning.  It is said to get all the crap out of your head so you have a clearer connection to your creative and intuitive juices.

3.  Ask yourself one question first thing in the morning.

Before your day begins, as you drink your first cup of tea or coffee, grab a pen and piece of paper.  At the top of the page write “What is it I need to know today?’ and then simply let your pen respond ( not your thinking mind).

The answer might be one word, a practical suggestion like ring your mother or a whole page of stuff that only means something to you.  Either way you are creating the time and space to establish a connection with your intuitive self.

4. Ask for proof:

If I am feeling uncertain I often ask for the universe to deliver some guidance. The clue could appear in a magazine, through conversation, on the side of a car, in a book, on the wall in a shop or even on TV.

You must expand your awareness and be open to the messages and sometimes subtle clues along the way.    If you need some more support in recognizing the signposts along the way I highly recommend Cheryl Richardson’s book The Unmistakable Touch of Grace: I love, love, love this book.

5. Do nothing for 15 minutes each day:

Sitting in stillness allows most of the busyness to fall out of your head giving rise to a clearer channel to your inner wise voice.  Do nothing for 15 minutes each day.  No reading, eating or being with technology. It works.

6. Marinate more often with your soul:

Disconnect from technology, the indoors and your “to-do” list.    A recipe which was given to me years ago suggested scheduling in your diary 1/2 an hour a day, 1/2 a day a week and 1 day a month for rejuvenating your soul.

7:  Carry a note book:

I don’t know about you but I find my intuition is often the clearest when I’m doing something insignificant like driving the car or walking on the beach. Carrying a note book so you don’t miss those magical moments of clarity from your intuition.

8.  Repeat the mantra “I trust”:

To help develop an authentic relationship with your intuition I’ve personally found repeating the words “I trust” to be helpful and keep my mind positive and open.   Repeat it often enough and you’ll soon start trusting.

9. Oracle cards for divine guidance:

I love my oracle cards.  In fact I have decks and decks of oracle cards.   You can use them to help strengthen your connection with your intuition.

If you’ve never used them before then zip over to Cheryl Richardsons web site where you are able to ask a question and then receive an answer from her deck of “grace cards”.
