Natural Wisdoms: A regular feature:

In a past life before I became a freelancer writer and the most excited blogger in the world I taught holistic Feng Shui to practitioners. By far the most common question asked was how do I improve my wealth.

What I am about to share with you is over 3,000 years old, shared by the majority of Feng Shui masters around the world and stems from the Flying Stars school of Feng Shui. This system can be likened to a predictive tool or forecast, perceived by the Chinese as how energy moves within time and space. So rather than bog you down in the complexities I’ll just give you the most important things that you need to know about your home for 2008 relating to wealth.

The Feng Shui Solar Calendar starts on February 4th:
To find your wealth spot for 2008 I need to look at the nine annual energies apply a formula and then allocate them to each one of the eight cardinal directions plus centre of your home. This gives me a flying star chart for 2008 which can be applied to all buildings, homes, shops and offices.

From this information I can then offer suggestions as to how you can best adjust the energies in your home to support a year ahead that flows with greater ease. I am aiming in my analysis to weaken the more difficult and enhance the more auspicious annual energies.

Having said that there is absolutely no point what so ever doing what I am about to tell you if you haven’t energetically prepared your home in the first place. I suggest reading two of my recent articles about clearing clutter called Simple Solutions When You Just Can’t Clear Your Clutter and Delete Obstacles and Welcome a Wealth of New Opportunities to get the ball rolling for you.

If you ignore clutter ( not mess but unused, unwanted, unloved, expired, broken stuff) and apply my remedies then you will only get a watered down result.

The East Part of Your Home Is Your Wealth Spot for 2008:
If your front door or office is located in the east sector of your home then congratulations you can expect to receive many opportunities of wealth and prosperity throughout the year. The east carries the most auspicious energy for the upcoming year and you can benefit from it no matter where it’s location in your home by applying my tips below.

Guidelines To Welcome The Wealth Energy Into Your Home For 2008:

  1. I suggest focusing allot of love and attention into your east (no matter what room it is) by giving it a good spring clean and improving the overall atmosphere of the space. Close your eyes and notice how the east makes you feel. A room that doesn’t quite feel quite right always has room for improvement.
  2. Is there anything that annoys you or drains your energy in the east, if so then fix it quick. Also think about what you can add to your east which would make it feel, look or smell better?
  3. Once the energy feels great then you have successfully tapped into the auspicious wealth energy for 2008 and are ready to add your elemental boosts.
  4. Keep doors and windows open in this area to invite the energy to flow freely into your home.
  5. To elementally boost the annual star 8 I suggest gold or red/purple accessories. It is the element of fire that we are looking to add here so its a good spot for your oil burner. If you have a salt crystal lamp then the east is a fabulous spot for it.
  6. You can also add a water feature here such as a fish bowl or fresh flowers. Gentler water is preferred.
  7. If you have an wish box or an abundance box this is the place to leave it for 2008. Wish boxes become extremely potent when placed with the wealth energy. If you are not sure what a wish box is then just let me know and I’d be happy to help.
  8. You can also symbolically enhance the east location of your office with something that represents abundance and wealth to you.

It’s important to note that it doesn’t create wealth itself. The energy of the annual star 8 creates the conditions for wealth to manifest. You need to act upon the opportunities, people and guidance that this energy will bring into your life.

Secondary wealth location:
If you are like me and can’t really access the East of your home then your secondary wealth location will be the southeast. The southeast carries a future auspicious energy and will bring many blessings if this location is well loved, feels great to be in and if you add some healthy indoor plants.

Setbacks, problems and obstacles - Your South:
Your south holds the energy of the annual star 5 which pushes for change and often brings setbacks problems and obstacles. It is highly recommended not to disturb this location with renovation and cure with the sound of metal. Metal wind chimes are often the easiest way to bring harmony to this energy. Hang your windchimes outside and make sure they catch a breeze.

If this isn’t possible then hang bells on a door knob, kitchen cupboard or a string of bells down a window that gets open and closed often. Remember its the sound of metal you are wanting to pacify this energy. I personally use the sound of metal through music by playing my Balinese music. I have found in the past it works perfectly.

Avoid red in the south.

Another suggestion which is not traditionally Feng Shui but I have found vibrationally to be successful is to place a large piece of black tourmaline (crystal) in the south. The tourmaline transmutes negative energies efficiently.

The West May Cause Arguments:

The energy in your west has the potential to cause miscommunication resulting in arguments and misunderstanding. I have personally used for many years a strong presence of the colour red to weaken this energy. I have a red mandala painting which I simply move around to wherever the annual star 3 is located each year. You may also wish to place a image that represents peace such as a Buddha or Quan Yin. If its your dining room table add a bowl of red apples or grapes to guarantee peaceful family dinners.

I’m happy to write more articles on Feng Shui if you are keen to read them. Just let me know. As long as I am writing I am happy.

Thanks for reading my article.

Peace, love and lots of prosperity to you all, Carole.

  1. I am enjoying your feng shui articles. I printed this one out to work with it in setting up my home. My front door just happens to be facing east on the northeast corner of my house.

Hi! I have a question. I was born on 12/1/1965 in Manila, Philippines. Accdg. to the formulas, EAst is one of my unlucky directions. HOwever, it is the lucky direction this year and it happens to be where my main door is.

How can I activate the wealth luck there without making it more unlucky for me?

Also, i live in a studio and so my space is very small. Do I still need to do directions, etc…? In other words, how do I do feng shui in such a small space?

Thank you very much!! Any help is very much apprecioated.
