Eliminate and simplify: A special feature:
If you are genuinely looking for change and keen to welcome new beginnings, new opportunities and amazing new experiences then you simply must create the energetic space in around you for these and more to occur. If you don’t then you are slowing down or blocking the creation of a new path to open expansively into your life.
I have witnessed hundreds of times both personally and with my clients the amazing changes that occur in peoples lives when they focus on removing the stuck, heavy, thick, old, unwanted energy (attached to their things) from every corner, cupboard, draw and hidden space around them.
As I’m on a passionate quest this year to detox and simplify my life (much deeper than I’ve ever gone before) I’m firstly exploring every nook and cranny in my home to remove as much stagnant and dead energy as possible.
I must add that each year when I do a big throw out, I often wonder, when I come across something tucked away, why I didn’t throw it out last year. We live and learn so my clearing clutter mantra this year is: “I am happy to let go of my stuff sooner rather than later”.
Your possessions hold an energy that either keeps you locked in the past or supports who you are today by uplifting your energy:
Become aware of how individual items decorating your home actually make you feel. I guarantee you will be surprised how zapping, stressful or pointless many of your possessions can be.
Your decision process should not be based on the cost of the possession or who gave it to you. Remember it’s about how it makes you feel. It is your personal living space and it is there to nourish YOU and support your journey in life so everything within its four walls should uplift your energy or simply be there for practical use such as an oven or fridge.
If you are keen to welcome 30% new opportunities then you must remove at least 30% of your stuff:
It’s quite simple really, if you are intending to welcome 30% new opportunities and experiences then you must remove 30% of your stuff from within your four walls. Garage included.
Alternately if you are wanting even greater changes in your life then remove 40%, 50% or even 60% of your possessions. It is much easier to do than you may think.
Let’s say you have six rooms in your home. If you simply clear out 5% only from each room then you instantly have a grand total of 30% already. Too easy.
Stuff that is unwanted, unloved, broken, cracked, wrong size, expired, unused, kept out of guilt (family gifts) blocks the flow of energy in around you and keeps you firmly stuck in the past. The more you are willingly to donate, throw out, give-away or sell the greater the opportunities that will present themselves to you and the clearer your thoughts and the happier and lighter you will feel, guaranteed.
You can make this detoxing process of your stuff a simple act or a challenging complex time consuming act filled with indecision. Sometimes its better to have a good friend with you at the time of clearing clutter that can stop you holding onto more stuff than necessary.
Ten unhealthy side effects for holding onto unessential stuff:
- Confuses your thinking
- You are unable to relax and unwind in your own home
- You don’t enjoy coming home
- Keeps you stuck in the past
- Drains your energy leaving you feeling tired and lethargic
- You and your family are living in a tangle of confused energy
- Creates missed opportunities
- Blocks the flow of your life and can even put it on hold
- Costs time and energy to keep clean, look after and store
- Can create depression particularly with lots of stuff stored on the floor as it is pulls your energy down.
Ten fabulous benefits for removing clutter:
- You have more energy without a doubt
- You think more clearly and therefore make wiser choices
- Your life flows with greater ease
- You tend to meet the right people, at the right place
- You sleep better
- You feel lighter and happier and definitely more optimistic
- You now love coming home and feel you can totally unwind and relax
- You can always find what you are looking for as everything has its place
- You have less things to clean and worry about storing
- Believe it or not some people actually lose weight by detoxing their home
A simple action plan:
If you are feeling a little overwhelmed with the thought of having to go through all your cupboards then you definately have some thick, heavy, depleting energy filling your home.
Remember there is no rush, one draw or one room once a month may just be the perfect pace for you to de-clutter. I guarantee that with each draw you will feel a little lighter and a little less overwhelmed.

Good to see you back and like I am being influenced by Zen to Done too. Gradually working through each room Just don’t go too overboard. We had a big garage clean out on Sunday, lots of boxes etc and then when Des’s laptop decided to have a blank screen and we went to look for the box- that was one we had disposed of!
Patricia - Spiritual Journey Of A Lightworkeron 16 Jan 2008 at 11:19 pm 2I have found that when I work on myself and am growing spiritually that I go through cleaning and clearing stages where I do let go of old possessions that no longer suit who I am on my path. Great article.

CG Walterson 28 Jan 2008 at 9:13 am 4Carole, I fully agree that physical items give off energy and a group of items within a specific area create a collective energetic field. It only make sense that–as you point out–these items could reinforce experiences that you associate with them.
thank you for your insight.
Peace and wonder,
