Rejuvenate You:

Life has been four fabulous weeks hanging out with family and friends in Melbourne and Sydney, getting to know my new Kenyan sister in law and her family, watching amazing fire works on the banks of the Yarra River in Melbourne for New Years Eve and chilling out with my boys at the Bondi beach skate park in Sydney.

I now find myself back home and oh, so ready to connect once again to my passion of writing and the exciting new adventures (and there’s lots of them) I have planned for 2008.

I’m starting this year with a special series of articles throughout January (possibly February) that focus on detoxing, de-stressing and simplifying all areas of life.

Why …… because that’s exactly what I’m solely focused on at that moment and what I need to do to align myself with who I am today and not who I was yesterday ….. way back in 2007.

What energetic quality does your soul need right now?

The first place I start long before creating a list of goals for the year is to mindfully select one energetic quality such as gentleness, simplicity, peace, gratefulness or compassion that I know my soul and life absolutely needs right now. It is the energetic fuel that I wish to feed my family on. It is the magical vitamin (which can’t be bought) that will nourish and nurture all my three boys holistic well being and our lives.

This year simplicity is definitely calling me. It is my magical vitamin that I wish to infuse throughout every aspect of my life. When life is simple it is light, flowing, expansive and joyful. My mantra is: How can I simplify this situation? Is my thinking simple or busy? How can I simplify this room? How can I simplify the shopping? How can I simplify my bills or whatever grabs my attention.

Be mindful of the energy you carry with you:
To choose the energetic quality most needed in your life right now, its useful to become very aware of the energy you are constantly carrying around with you and dishing out to your family. It will either uplift and support their overall well being or drain and deplete it. Carrying a constant dose of stress, worry, upset, panic and hurriedness does not support the health of any family and is not how nature intended us to live.

Once you are aware of what energies you don’t wish to carry around with you, you can then easily decide what is most needed to nourish your soul and life.

Is my life simply perfect, definitely not, but striving for simplicity, lightness and a gentle flow to my day whilst achieving my passionate pursuits is a journey worth being on.

Avoid manifesting your goals surrounded by crazy frantic energy:
If any of my goals take me away from my energetic quality ( simplicity ) then a frank discussion and honest revaluation is needed with myself.

If I am unable to simplify the goal (and situation around it) so it feels light, open and expansive then it will be canceled, cleared and deleted without hesitation. No goal is worth achieving at the expense of health, mental sanity or my family time, it’s that simple.

That is why it makes perfect sense to align yourself firstly to the most important energetic quality you wish to fill your life with before going off and writing down your goals.

Choosing the energetic quality that your soul and life craves right now:

Following are a list of qualities of which one, I am trusting, will spark a connection with you giving you the perfect energetic fuel that you need at this point in your life. As simplicity has my undivided attention at the moment I have kept the list as simple and therefore hopefully accessible as possible.

In addition to writing my energetic quality down I intentionally instill it’s loud presence into the four corners of my home, bedroom, wallet, car, bathroom mirror and work space as a constant reminder throughout the year of what’s really important in my life right now.

Living life more gently:
If you push yourself through the day, rush against the clock and write long “to do” lists to squeeze more into your day then living more gently may be the energetic fuel you need in your life right now. Make a promise with yourself to think more gently, complete tasks more gently, plan your day more gently and treat your children or family more gently.

“There is more to life than increasing its speed” Gandhi

Living life more simply:
My favorite! If life seems complicated, heavy, draining or not flowing with ease then you definitely need to lighten the load around you, clear out the heavy energy and live life more freely and simply.

When focusing on simplicity the unwanted layers will magically appear ready for you to wipe them once and for all from your life.

Just because you have done a task or habit a certain way year after year does not mean it can’t be done more simply. Asking for a simpler solution to any situation saves yourself an enormous amount of stress, wasted energy and time. Adding simplicity into my life brings great satisfaction and offers an awesome clarity.

Live life more peacefully:
Life can be approached in a calmer and ultimately more peaceful way if you allow it. If you panic and tend to overact to what is happening around you then living more peacefully may be just the fuel your soul and family need right now. When you are living and working in a peaceful energy there is no room for anger, frustration, panic or over reaction.

Live life more compassionately:
If life is filled with criticism and uncalled for opinions then a compassionate flavour added to your days may be exactly what you need. Living more compassionately allows you to accept situations more easily, removes the need for judgments on people and situations and shifts what you attract into your life.

Live life more gratefully:
No matter how impossible and trying life might be there is always, always something to be grateful for. Focusing always on the negative and living in fear of “lack” distracts you from what you can be thankful and grateful for in your life right now.

Live life more lovingly:
I’ll always remember a phrase in the book Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsh which says “What would love do now”. It’s a question you need to ask yourself when faced with any overwhelming situation.
