In November I dare you to do something different:

A monthly feature:
Are you living a restricted version of yourself?
Starting this month I have a new and exciting monthly addition to The Healthy Living Lounge. It is definitely for you and most certainly for me.
Each month I am daring myself and daring you to do something different no matter how big or small. It’s all about expanding your world and exploring new realms of possibilities. You know what they say “Nothing ventured, nothing gained”
Some months you can even expect me to double dare you.
Inflexibility, stagnation, resisting change, doing the same old same old, not being able to go with the flow, holding onto old unsupportive habits and beliefs, avoiding new beginnings, living a repetitive and predictable life all contribute to shrinking your experience in this world.
Your level of joy shrinks your level of health shrinks and your level of satisfaction with life shrinks.
They all one by one reduce the aliveness in your mind/body and prevent you from living as expansively, healthfully and joyfully as possible.
When inflexibility occurs in the mind it soon begins to appear in your body.
When inflexibility has arrived in your mind/body your approach to life becomes inflexible, rigid and stagnant and you live a very restricted version of yourself.
Trying something new (a small or big step at a time) and be open to inviting variety and change into your life. It can be a permanent change that adds growth and value to your life or simply an exploration of something new which has always intrigued you. It’s simply about taking one foot at a time out of your comfort zone.
What do you dare to do differently this month?
Firstly have a little think about the following question:
If the whole world followed you, would YOU be pleased where YOU took it?
I think this is a great question which triggers a kind of ‘Oh, my goddess” type of response. Would the world be inspired to follow your in your footsteps or bored and uninspired and run in the other direction?
Just in case you are not sure what you would really like to do differently this month spend a few minutes journaling one of the following questions each morning.
What do I really, really, really want to do differently in my life this month?
or
What do I really, really, really need to change in my life right now?
Without thinking allow your hand and pen to respond. Keep writing until an answer becomes obvious. This is the most honest way to find out what you want to do differently this month as your mind is not really involved.
The perfect choice for you this month is one that makes you feel a little uncomfortable yet excited all at the same time.
You may find you would like to strengthen your physical health such as trying yoga or tai chi, reduce your internal stress by practicing meditation, deepen your spiritual connection by going on a retreat, start drinking chai tea(my favourite) connect with good friends more often, change your early morning routine, learn how to do mudras, to go to bed earlier, learn a new language, wear different coloured underwear or clean your teeth with your opposite hand. Start small if that is easier or go big just because you can. It’s not necessarily about adding a new ritual to your life but more about your willingness to do something different even if it is a one off.
My monthly focus for November:
This month I am excited about spending one hour each week doing nothing. No meditation, no listening to music, no reading simply sitting still and just BEING.
An hour a day is not practical at the moment for my life so I’ve opted for once a week.
The kind of things I looking forward to experiencing are a release of stress and tension built over the week; a calmer mind; some clear insights into the flow of my life; the kind of things I am not looking forward to is the resistance and complaining from my mind and body when I give it nothing to do for a whole sixty minutes.
Let me know how you go. I’d love to hear your feedback and stories.
Peace, love and chai tea to you all.

I have enjoyed this post, reading when i should be writing. Yesterday I made a commitment for a month , by starting a Gratitude Journal last night. Listening to The Secret again, inspired me and I made it official over on Zen Habits forum, so there is no hiding now-
Will be fascinating to see what others commit to.
live your dreams

Love this post. I must get on and start my NLP study for this new certification I am after. I have had a blockage with my work this past couple of weeks and need to get re-focused and onto the projects I have let slip a little (blush). So thanks for the kick up the a^s, and I will keep you posted with my progress.
Chai, chai for now
