Comfort on the GO: A weekly feature:

I have recently fallen in love with the word “comfort”.

Lying in bed one night whilst having a little chat to the universe, as you do, “pow” the word comfort appeared loud and clear. I was immediately impressed by its presence as it swelled through my entire body.

It had always seemed like a plain, unassuming word but now I was in awe of its incredible depth and truthful offerings.

At first I felt an instant warm, soothing and nurturing feeling which then soon attracted an amazing releasing and I mean amazing releasing. Nothing at all seemed to matter, everything was perfect and my perceived complexities of life and the world dissolved away effortlessly.

As I surrendered willingly, I felt totally comforted by the peaceful, still, calm, nourishing energetic presence of comfort with a sense of expansive freedom. I simply felt a clearer connection to the real me and my connection to all within our universe.

The next morning I looked up “comfort” in the dictionary. Its Latin roots come from the word confortare, “strengthen” fortis “strong”.

That makes perfect sense, comfort strengthens the core of my being and my connection to the real me. Yeah. .

When resting in the zone of comfort there is no rush for all is perfect and complete. I am very happy just BEING in the moment. But more importantly I am being nourished in that moment. Imagine how much more energy I can save by visiting more frequently the essence of comfort.

By now I was becoming more and more impressed with the word comfort.

Other meanings offered by the dictionary were:

  • state of physical well being
  • things that make life easy
  • to cause satisfaction
  • soothe in grief

These I felt did not come close to the bigger picture of its true essence.

Well being is restored when you welcome comfort:

When experiencing a comfort moment all concerns, fears, worries and agitations simply dissolve allowing well being to be restored something the body does naturally when given the opportunity. Our true healthful essence shines.

Finding moments of comfort:

The question now is where can I find more moments of comfort?

I began to search and was pleasantly surprised that comfort appeared often in the most simplest of situations.

  • Activities I love like yoga and meditation provide space between my thoughts and space within my body inviting comfort to re balance and restore me.

  • Books I read hold the vibrational essence of the wisdom they are offering. Wayne Dyers latest book “Change your thoughts, Change your life, Living the wisdom of the Tao” resonates totally with my soul and offers great comfort.

  • Music. I often play my Balinese music as it takes me back to being in Bali and allows me to re-connect with the peaceful, grounding, calm and totaling comforting energy this beautiful land offers. The Balinese are the most gracious, peaceful and “live in” the moment people I know. I am calmed and comforted just being in their villages and presence.

  • People I’ve met. I will never forget the intensity of comfort I felt when I met the Dali Lama just recently. Although at the time I didn’t realize it was comfort. His gently guiding message of peace brings comfort to thousands of people around the world. Now I get his message at even a deeper level. Looking at him, listening to him or just standing near him a comforting calm presence flows over you. You can now listen to him and watch him talk via his web casts http://www.dalailama.com/page.128.htm that are now offered from his web site.

  • My thoughts and words. I now say the word comfort often, either in affirmations, out aloud in my conversations or whilst journaling. Journaling is a wonderful way to begin deepening your connection with comfort. It allows you explore its truthful offerings.

Of course adding more moments of stillness and just being allows comfort to frequent our busy lives.

As I appreciate and connect often with comfort I look forward to receiving more of its guiding wisdom and natural restorative qualities.
